Exemptions for tuition fees

Please note that there are some groups of students who are classified as sacred cows when it comes to the paid Middle Eastern Technical University (METU), tuition fees in 2020. The following groups of students are exempt from tuition fees as long as they are within their regular study period:

• Students with the Republic of Turkey or the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
• Students with Syrian nationality

1.1. TEACHING FEES

One of the siblings (with a lower scholarship) pays the reduced tuition fee of $ 6000 per academic year. Any other allowable rebate on tuition fees will be calculated if you use this reduced fee as a basis. Both siblings must be registered as regular students. (Foreign language students and undergraduate students may benefit from the discount) To benefit from the discount, students must apply for their passport copies at the Registrar’s Office until the last day of that semester’s add/drop period.

Study opportunity for tuition fees for the academic year 2022-2023

Teaching exemption bursaries of 25% and 50% are offered during admission to applicants with application scores (National or International curriculum) that are significantly higher than the minimum requirement for application and 75% and 100% for exceptionally successful applicants. The applications are evaluated weekly by the international admissions committee.

Duration of the bursary: ​​5 years in the study program (Note: the duration of all undergraduate programs is four years), plus 1 year in the English language preparation program (if necessary).

Suspension condition: The bursary is suspended for the next semester if the student falls into a trial status in a semester other than the first two semesters in the degree program, and will be granted again as soon as the student is out of the trial period. (According to the METU NCC regulations, the student falls into trial status if his / her CGPCA falls below 2.00 out of 4.00 for two consecutive semesters)

The scholarship for students who attend the English preparation program for one year and have a total of 50.00 or higher annually, or students who obtain a minimum of 50 in one of the English proficiency exams, lasts another year. In other words, they can repeat the English preparation program under the same scholarship.

Middle East Technical University (METU), Merit Scholarship 2022-2023:

Provided that the student has completed the first two semesters of an undergraduate program, excluding the Prep School period, and that their cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is below the top 3% of the total undergraduate students enrolled in the relevant year of study is, has placed. the program, excluding those attending Prep School classes;

Students who obtain an N-CGPA (weighted-cumulative grade point average) in the interval of 3,50 – 3,74, based on a 4-point scale, are eligible to receive a ‘Merit Scholarship’, which is 450 TL per month covering October, November, December, and January of the following autumn semester; and February, March, April, and May of the Spring Semester.

Students who have obtained 3.75 or higher N-CGPA on a 4-point scale are eligible for a merit scholarship, amounting to 650 TL per month, covering October, November, December, and January of the following autumn period; and February, March, April, and May of the Spring Semester.

Study opportunities are also offered to students in exchange for work in the library, laboratories, IT, sports complexes, dormitories, etc. To be eligible for this type of scholarship, not only academic success but also the student’s financial circumstances and disciplinary suitability are taken into account.
